"Here is Germany" by Frank Capra would not go to fullscreen. I opened the movie in the old player and it went to fullscreen.

I am running Safari 5.1.4 and Mac OS X 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro.

ok, actually, was able to make (html5 nonflash mode) fullscreen button work for firefox and push that live, too.

(i've got safari 5.1.4 and OSX 10.6.8 (but I have 10.7.3 on work machine), too, and can fullscreen that movie, so not entirely sure why it didn't work for you.
is it consistent or just occasional?

fullscreen tech in flash plugin is well established and works on nearly every platform/OS/hardware combo.

html5 is not quite yet there -- but the latest versions of the main four browsers (IE9, firefox v11, chrome, safari) either have fullscreen capable already (which we use -- eg: safari + chrome)

I just tried:

in safari and chrome, and new player w/ html5 fullscreen-ed fine.
in firefox v11 (and i think back to v9) it expands to within the browser window. you can find the "View" menu then "Fullscreen" and then click our fullscreen button to make it nearly perfect fullscreen right now.

not sure about IE9.

if you miss the more "real" fullscreen, you can always elect the
I prefer flash (when possible)
link and you'll be back to flash-based fullscreen

anyway, point being, html5 is close and i know from conferences and contacts that all are *rapidly* converging to make this work very well as it's understandably a highly desirable feature for users.
so it's coming very soon to all browsers, and we're staying on top of it and updating to it ASAP!
